About ORUD

Mission

The Mission of the Oak Ridge Utility District is to responsibly serve our customers beyond their expectations.

Our History

Located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Oak Ridge Utility District (ORUD) has been safely delivering natural gas to the communities of Anderson and Roane Counties since it became an independent non-profit utility with its own charter in 1951.

Since then, our commitment to distributing safe, reliable energy remains unchanged. Today we proudly serve nearly 13,000 customers and are continually growing.

Our Board

All corporate powers are vested in and exercised by a 5-member Board of Commissioners. Meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the ORUD business office, 120 S. Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge. If the meeting has changed, a public notice will be issued. In addition, the Tennessee Regulatory Authority, the Utility Management Review Board, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulate portions of the District’s activities.
