ORUD - The Beginning
Oak Ridge Utility District of Anderson and Roane Counties, Tennessee is an independent non-profit utility with its own Charter granted by the
State of Tennessee in 1951.
ORUD - Today
Oak Ridge Utility District currently serves approximately 13,000 customers. All corporate powers are vested in and exercised by a five member Board of
Commissioners, who meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12:00 Noon, at the ORUD business office, 120 S. Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge,
Tennessee, unless changed by public notice. In addition, the Tennessee Regulatory Authority, the Utility Management Review Board, and the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission regulate portions of the District's activities.
